Lara Rosenthal - Clinical Director, LAc

“I come from a long line of rabbis on one side of my family, and doctors on the other side. This is how I have come to walk the earth: as a bridge, between body and spirit, between Chinese and Western medicine. This is not just a practice or a job for me. It is a mission.”

Lara is a licensed acupuncturist and board certified Chinese herbologist specializing in women’s health and fertility. Currently, she is the clinical director of Rosenthal Women’s Health & Fertility and runs the acupuncture program at the NYU Langone Health Fertility Center. She has served as a faculty member at her alma mater, Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York, and as a clinical supervisor at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases’ in their Initiative for Women with Disabilities. She graduated from Stanford University with degrees in Biological Sciences and Economics. After graduating, she went on to teach English and study Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan, where she was first introduced to acupuncture. She loves to educate the public and practicing physicians about the uses of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to enhance fertilty and treat common women’s health issues. Her writing on acupuncture and IVF has been published in Fertility and Sterility and the Journal of Chinese Medicine.

Her approach draws upon multiple influences in addition to traditional Chinese medicine. She has studied functional medicine, is a yoga teacher, a Focusing trainer, and a long-time meditator. Depending on the needs of the individual, she regularly brings these resources into her work with patients.

In what feels like a previous life, Lara was a television producer at Wall Street Journal Television producing business news programs for Europe and Asia including the Chinese language World Economy and Finance Report - the first international business news program to air in China. She has written for many publications including The Wall Street Journal, The Asian Wall Street Journal and Cosmopolitan
